You are driving west from Williams Lake, along deep canyons, Pine tree forests and golden grassland plateaus, dotted with horses, beneath glacier-capped peaks.  You then drop into the Bella Coola valley via Heckman Pass. Here the rivers wind through the coastal rainforest, boasting its old-growth Douglas Fir and Cedars surrounded by stunning mountains, all the way to the Pacific.

You haven't seen much traffic, or a Starbucks in five hours, and you won't. If that sounds like relief instead of deprivation, you're in the right place.

It is about a 5 hour drive from Williams Lake to Bella Coola.  It is a one hour flight from Bella Coola to Vancouver (weather permitting).
